I am really excited to share that on May 18th, I will be doing a teach-in with NIF NewGen for Jewish educators! This is relevant for teachers, counselors, activists and organizers. Anyone who is in the Jewish World, leading or facilitating groups and asking “how do we talk about the occupation within our communities.”

This is also a good moment to mention that I am currently off the ground, spending a couple of months with family as they get to know my son and he them. Being off the ground comes with it’s own complexities, and it is a real privilege to be able to come and go from the land - something that 5 million Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza can’t do easily or at all. It’s a privelege to be able to live in the land my grandmother and her family is from, something Palestinians who are refugees in the diapora cannot do because of unequal Israeli law. All of this reality is in and of itself a privilege for Jewish-Israelis on our uneven ground that we all must fight to change - recognition is important, but it’s not enough.
I’ve been busy doing in person talks on the East Coast, and if you are interested in hosting me for a talk, respond to this email or write me at info@beccaexplains.com

Anti-Occupation Teach-In for Teachers
Workshop for educators, camp counselors, and activists
Address sent via email upon registration
Join us for an interactive workshop on how to educate about the Israeli military occupation featuring veteran Israeli-American tour guide Becca Strober, former Senior Director at Breaking the Silence. Becca has over a decade of experience leading educational tours and teaching ideologically diverse audiences about Israel's system of domination over Palestinian life in the West Bank. In this program, you will deepen your own understanding of the occupation, develop strategies for communicating about this complex, controversial topic with your communities, and simulate learning scenarios relevant to your own work. This is an excellent opportunity for Hebrew school teachers, camp counselors, activists, rabbinical school students, and many more.
Kosher lunch will be served.
We know that discussing what's really happening in Israel/Palestine elicits strong emotional responses from people in our communities, which can lead to fights, rejection, and strained relationships. As courageous educators, we don't shy away from this discomfort. Rather, we refine our pedagogy in order to meet people where they are at, presenting the facts honestly but with sensitivity to our audience's predisposition.
When signing up below, tell us about your existing knowledge and how you envision applying the tools developed in this workshop so that we can tailor this workshop to your background and interests.
